Summer’s almost over, kids are going back to school, stores are starting to put things up for Halloween, and this blog has been on vay-k (that’s short for vacation).
Starting next week, Matrifocal Point will get back into the swing of things with an amazing interview with Theresa Davis. I actually interviewed Theresa last spring but am just now posting the interview to start off September. If you don’t know who Theresa is, you should. She’s an amazing African American queer poet, performer, educator, woman. She’s doing all kinds of amazing things in Atlanta, GA and sat down with me at a coffee shop to talk education, poetry, activism, women working together, art, and a whole lot more. It’s an interview not to be missed.
So, next week, this blog will be posted Mondays and Thursdays beginning with Theresa Davis’ interview. After that, we’re launching right in to fall and have more exciting things on the horizon!
Only posting once a week during a time when our nation is particularly anti-women means that a lot gets left out of this blog. Ultimately, once a week isn’t enough, so there have been some missed things, but one I want to point out is this:
On August 18th, 1920, women won the right to vote. That was 92 years ago. Woo Hoo! Women fought for that right- it was not given. We are still fighting for our rights and we all must be in the fight together. It’s more fun that way anyway!
Thank you for reading Matrifocal Point! See you next week to fall back into feminism with the Theresa Davis interview.
